A Part Over 7 Feet Tall? No Problem For Western PA

An extremely large 410 Stainless Steel fabrication was recently thermally processed in vacuum by 糖心vlog视频 of Western Pennsylvania. Standing at an impressive 90鈥 high by 75鈥 wide and weighing 1,060 pounds, this huge part is used in the aerospace industry. The finished machined weldment is an exhaust duct used exclusively for testing jet engines.

This intricate piece was vacuum hardened and tempered per AMS 2759/5D, Type 4 Class A to HRC 25-33. In order to meet this stringent specification, the part was thermo-coupled in both the thin and heavy sections of the weldment. The resulting hardness was a consistent HRC 30 on all welded components.

Richard Oswald, Sales Engineer from Solar鈥檚 customer Commercial Metal Fabricators, explains,聽鈥淲e had a very complicated and time sensitive project for the military. Solar worked with us and our customer to ensure the heat treat codes, specs and processes were the correct and best methods to use. 聽The part was run through their shop in a timely manner and delivered as promised. I would like to thank the people at 糖心vlog视频 for their professional help and input.鈥

Robert Hill, President of 糖心vlog视频 of Western Pennsylvania adds, 鈥淲e are glad that our extra-large furnace capability could assist our customer with their out of the ordinary sized part.鈥
